Seasonal Hours
Located inside the Bangor Police Department on Main Street, the Bangor Police Museum gives visitors an in-depth look at the history of law enforcement in Maine and across the United States, with a strong emphasis on the Bangor Police Department from the 1700s to the present day. The collection features badges, batons, early cameras, newspaper clippings, and other artifacts that trace the evolution of police work over more than three centuries. Standout items include the rare “tramp chair,” a public deterrent once used to punish or discourage vagrancy, and the widely known “Duck of Justice,” which gained national attention for its humorous appearances online. The museum is free to visit, open by appointment, and sits within easy walking distance of nearby attractions and dining.
