The Criterion Theatre opened on June 6th, 1932 in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor. This 870-seat, Art Deco theatre was used for vaudeville performances as well as motion picture exhibition. One unique feature of the Criterion is its "floating" balcony. The Criterion offers a great line-up of live music and theatre productions, as well as a full schedule of first-run movies. The Criterion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
