Split Personality: Sharing the Stage with Your Puppet
Tired of hiding behind a black curtain? In this playful workshop, you’ll learn techniques for generating and performing scenes played between puppet and puppeteer.
Join Bonnie Duncan (known for playing both the main character and puppeteer of her one-woman shows) as she guides you through the process of how The Gottabees creates and refines their brand of non-verbal physical theater. Using physical theater games and partner exercises, you’ll explore how to divide your inner attention between performer and puppeteer and how to generate new material for stage without words. Participants will create and share movement, moments, scenes, and stories of their own using The Gottabees’ approaches.
This interactive clinic is recommended for puppeteers, actors, dancers, and theater artists of all levels and any discipline who are interested in how puppets and live actors might share the stage.
What to Bring: comfortable clothing to move in, snacks and water, notebook/pencil, a simple hand puppet (work puppets will be provided if you cannot bring one of your own).
