Organist Christopher Houlihan, an "intelligently virtuoso musician" (Gramophone) and acclaimed for his "glowing, miraculously life-affirming performance." (Los Angeles Times) returns to our Screen Door Festival to perform a program of homages, transcriptions and musical transformations. The Widor Allegro from Symphony No. 6 weaves and transforms two themes throughout; Howells’ Testament is a reimagining of Tallis’s music; the Ravel Vocalise Etude is an organ transcription by the startlingly talented Christopher Houlihan, and the Vierne Symphony uses two themes in very different ways throughout the movements. At the center of the program is Handel’s luminous Concert in F Major for which Christopher will be joined by Toomai String Quintet.
