Bay Chamber Concerts presents Bishop Chantel Wright and her Harlem-based Gosepl choir at Strom Auditorium.
Founded in 2001 by veteran conductor Chantel Wright, Harlem-based Songs of Solomon performs inspirational music in an environment supportive of young people of diverse backgrounds. This acclaimed choir performs varied repertoire including gospel, spirituals, anthems, and classical choral music. The ensemble has performed with notable artists including Ashford and Simpson, Elton John, and American Idol winners Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino and Ruben Studdard. Their moving and spirited program features charismatic guest soloist, soprano Alexandria Crichlow, whose portrayal of Maria in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra production of Porgy & Bess under the direction of Marin Alsop and live CD recording of highlights from the work with the Philadelphia Orchestra last year, were ecstatically praised by critics and audiences alike. Songs of Solomon’s unforgettable previous Bay Chamber performances have consistently sold out, so get your tickets early for this healing and uplifting musical experience.
