Maine is a great place for road biking because of its rural back roads and bike-friendly city streets. You can access much of Maine's history and natural beauty by bike, from lighthouses to working waterfronts to historic sites to coastal cliffs and mountain vistas. Maine is part of the long-distance, interstate urban trail project known as the East Coast Greenway. When completed, this trail network will connect northernmost Maine to Florida with 3,000 miles of traffic-free shared-use trails. Several sections of the Greenway are completed in Maine and ready for bikers.
