They say no man is an island. But one man in particular embodies the soaring spirit and deep soul of Maine’s coastal islands and the natural world that surrounds them. Eric Hopkins. Native Mainer, islander and artist. Growing up in North Haven, the woods, fields and coastal shorelines became his canvas, the sun and sky his palette.
A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Eric’s paintings and glass have been exhibited at the Farnsworth Art Museum, Portland Museum of Art, Center for Maine Contemporary Art and at numerous galleries nationally. Eric welcomed the Maine Thing Quarterly ashore to share his thoughts, perceptions and unique island art.
