Historic house museums
Historic New England operates six historic house museums in Maine, offering a unique glimpse into Maine's eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth century past. Castle Tucker and Nickels-Sortwell House, both built in 1807, are on the Maine coast in Wiscasset. The 1789 Marrett House is in Standish, just outside Portland. The Sarah Orne Jewett House and Hamilton House are in South Berwick, and the Sayward-Wheeler House is in York Harbor . We offer entertaining and informative programming and regularly scheduled tours from June 1 to October 15.
