The Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum is a historic narrow-gauge railway museum located in Alna, just north of Wiscasset in the Sheepscot Valley.

The museum preserves and interprets Maine’s two-foot narrow-gauge railroad history through operating steam and historic rail equipment. Visitors can ride a restored steam train, explore the rail yard, stations and shops, and learn about the operation and maintenance of a steam-powered railroad.

Originally constructed in 1894 as the Wiscasset and Quebec Railroad, the line later became the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway. Although never reaching its intended destinations, the railroad served rural Maine communities by transporting people and goods through forests, farmland and small villages until operations ended in 1933.

Today, the museum operates on reconstructed track and offers rides, exhibits and special events that highlight the role of narrow-gauge railroads in Maine’s transportation and industrial history. The museum is family-friendly and encourages hands-on exploration.
