Bear Mountain Lodge is an upscale private lakefront lodge retreat set on 560 wooded acres along Howard Lake in Downeast Maine, offering a quiet escape surrounded by forest, wildlife, and water.

The lodge features a collection of thoughtfully renovated suites and guest rooms across two buildings, designed for both individual travelers and larger groups. Guests have access to shared spaces including a game room, fitness area, and outdoor gathering areas, along with direct access to the lake and an extensive trail network throughout the property.

Open year-round, the property offers opportunities to explore in every season — from kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and fishing in the warmer months to snowmobiling and winter recreation in colder weather. The surrounding acreage provides space to roam, whether on foot, by ATV, or simply enjoying the quiet of the landscape, with elevated views of the surrounding mountains and vibrant fall foliage as the leaves change each season.

Well suited for family gatherings, reunions, small events, and travelers seeking a more secluded Maine experience, the lodge can accommodate up to 24 guests. Located near the Canadian border between Calais and Eastport, it offers both privacy and convenient access to coastal destinations including Eastport, Lubec, St. John, and Bar Harbor with Acadia National Park.
