Swan Island is a protected island in the Kennebec River in Richmond, offering opportunities for hiking, camping, birding, fishing and wildlife watching. The island is home to nesting bald eagles, deer and waterfowl, along with five historic homes dating to the 1700s.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Swan Island features scenic river landscapes, a network of trails and a four-mile dirt road suitable for walking or biking.
