Bigelow Preserve, in western Maine, includes over 36,000 acres of public land. Located about 40 miles north of Farmington, the preserve has hiking trails, mountains, ponds and streams and offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation. It is bounded on the north by 20,000-acre Flagstaff Lake and includes the entire Bigelow Range. That range has seven summits. The highest, West Peak, is 4,150 feet, one of only 10 Maine mountains over 4,000 feet.
