Maine Seaweed Week is a statewide celebration of edible seaweed, a delicious, nutrient-dense, sustainable local food that supports working waterfront jobs.

From April 24 - May 3, think kelp burgers, seaweed beer and cocktails, and everything in between at your favorite local bars and restaurants. Plus, special events like our kickoff film screening at the Portland Museum of Art (April 24th), seaweed ID workshops, hands-on cooking classes, and Seaweed Saturday (our one-of-a-kind seaweed expo on April 25th) all brought to you by Maine's seaweed experts.

Event At A Glance:

● Restaurant and bar menus feature seaweed-based food, cocktails & other specials

● Brewers, bakers, distillers, chocolatiers, cheesemakers & other artisans release limited-edition items

● Seaweed Saturday, a free, family-friendly expo at GMRI in Portland on 4/25

● Special kickoff film screening at the Portland Museum of Art on 4/24

● Buy fresh kelp direct from local farmers and cook with it at home
