Bursting with quintessential seaside charm, this year’s Boothbay Lights holiday festival has events to delight the whole family.
This season’s Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will be as spectacular as ever, only this year, visitors will stay cozy in their cars for a drive-through version. From November 21 through January 2, Gardens Aglow will light up the Boothbay peninsula for the sixth year in a row, with over 500,000 LED lights bringing sparkling joy for the holidays. Advance tickets must be purchased—one per car.
An annual favorite (and free!) event is on December 12, from 6:45 to 8:00 p.m. Head to the harbor for the Lighted Boat Parade as the decorated vessels make their way around the inner harbor for your viewing while judges make their favorite selection! After the boat parade, the inner harbor will be lit up at 7:30 p.m. with the holiday Sparkle Fireworks display for all to enjoy.
Don’t miss the Gingerbread Spectacular from December 2–5, 10:00–4:00 p.m. at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor. Masked guests can enjoy the dozens of gingerbread creations and admission is free.
Boothbay also has delightful dining options throughout town. Warm up with a toasty beverage at the Outside Hot Toddy Bar at Brady’s on Fridays and Saturdays, and there is a special Happy Hour at the Boathouse Bistro for Gardens Aglow visitors. Many other restaurants in Boothbay offer a discount if you show your Garden’s Aglow ticket!
Boothbay’s renowned lodging is plentiful and many B&Bs and inns have Boothbay Lights specials that include tickets to Gardens Aglow or special rates.
