Breweries, Wineries & Distilleries

In addition to Maine’s award-winning dining, the state is home to a thriving craft brewery scene, dreamy wineries dotting the coastline and creative distilleries, many of which source ingredients locally from wild blueberries to hops and grains. Whether you experience Maine’s wines and spirits on a guided tour or relaxing at a vineyard (yes, Maine vineyards are a thing!), you’re bound to find classic favorites and new, local twists.

A great way to experience the best breweries in Maine is through the Maine Beer Trail, which connects more than 100 craft breweries across Maine. You can create your own trail by selecting what breweries you want to visit: ones with tasting rooms or brewery tours, or perhaps a family-friendly brewery.

Wineries in Maine are unique. Our wines are as varied as the people who create them, but they all reflect the special terroir of Maine, whether you’re visiting Maine’s MidCoast, Lakes & Mountains or The Maine Highlands. When wine tasting in Maine, you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy wine – you just need to trust your own taste. You’re bound to find one you like along the Maine Wine Trail, a collection of over two dozen wineries, tasting rooms, vineyards and orchards.

To say Maine’s craft distillery scene has expanded recently is an understatement. Craft spirits are bubbling up all across the state. Maine’s craft-spirit makers are brimming with energy and creativity. They celebrate the classics – whiskey, gin, rum and vodka – while gleefully experimenting with new tastes of their own. Today, Maine makers brew up spirits from maple, carrot juice and beer, to name a few. You can find out more about the art of distilling in Maine from the Maine Distillers Guild.
