Desert Island. Located 15 minutes from Ellsworth, you can spend your days exploring either of the nearby Acadia National Park locations or Bar Harbor. Step back in time, peek into the Victorian past, and settle into the rare and charming surroundings of this unique carriage house suite. The Captain's Quarters offers two levels at the front of the carriage house facing south toward Frenchman Bay. As you cross the patio and enter through the front door into the great room, there is a lovely mantle with wood surround and wall sconces. The varied width pine flooring adjoins bead board walls and ceiling to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There is a kitchen and half bath on the first floor with a staircase taking you to the beds and bath on the second level. The Captain's study on the second floor has been converted to a generous sized bedroom with built-in shelving. _For the history buffs, it is a treat to stay in the same room that the Captain used for his private office and study while he lived here._ The triple windows on the front facing side of the bedroom, likely where his desk was facing, offer views of Mount Desert Island. There is a pass through bed and full bath on this level.
