Each summer the Bates Dance Festival presents six weeks of performances and events featuring internationally acclaimed contemporary dance and music artists.
Founded in 1983, the Bates Dance Festival (BDF), a program of Bates College in Lewiston is acclaimed as one of America's most important contemporary dance centers. Each summer, BDF offers six weeks of performances and events featuring internationally acclaimed contemporary dance and music artists, as well as professional dance training, commissioning and outreach activities.
BDF's 2016 season will feature performances by Dorrance Dance, Doug Varone and Dancers, Kate Weare Company, Different Voices, a showcase of emerging and international artists, the popular Musicians' Concert featuring music from around the world, and the Festival Finale featuring new works by visiting choreographers.
