Cape Newagen Alpaca Farm is a small, family-friendly alpaca farm and fiber studio on Southport Island in mid-coast Maine.
Located beside the Southport Memorial Library, the farm welcomes visitors by appointment for guided experiences with its herd. Educational farm tours introduce alpacas within a working landscape, while longer alpaca treks invite guests to walk alongside one of these gentle animals while learning about their care, fiber and habits. The farm is not a petting zoo, though alpacas are often curious and happy to accept hay.
Yarn is produced entirely from the farm’s own alpacas, milled in Maine or spun on site, and left undyed to highlight more than 20 natural shades. The on-site shop offers yarn along with house-made salves and soaps. The farm is handicap accessible and open seasonally; visit the website for details on farm experiences and booking.
