Seasonal Hours
The Jonathan Fisher House preserves the home and life’s work of Jonathan Fisher, Blue Hill’s first settled Congregational minister and a noted artist, inventor and scholar. Built in 1814, the homestead offers guided visits that explore Federal-era New England through original furnishings, artwork, handmade surveying instruments and Fisher’s extensive personal library. Visitors can see furniture Fisher crafted himself and a rare camera obscura he designed to aid his drawings. Outside, the grounds include a re-created early 19th-century orchard based on Fisher’s original plans, featuring a pear tree more than 200 years old. Together, the house and landscape provide an intimate look at one man’s creative and intellectual world.
