About Monmouth & Winthrop
Monmouth and Winthrop are both located in the Winthrop Lakes Region in central Maine. You can go hiking through farmlands and woodlands or go fishing for bass on one of the many lakes, ponds and streams in the area.
Monmouth
Monmouth is located along Route 202, halfway between Lewiston/Auburn and Augusta. In the summer, you can attend the Monmouth Fair, a four-day event that features agricultural shows, displays and demonstrations, as well as music, fireworks and games for kids, including a pig scramble. You can also learn about 19th-century Maine at the Monmouth Museum or see a show at The Theater at Monmouth.
Winthrop
You can go fishing on Maranocook Lake or take a short hike up the Mt. Pisgah trail and climb the 60’ historic fire tower for views of the region. In the summer, you can attend the concert series at Norcross Point, the Fourth of July fireworks, or the Sidewalk Art Show. You can also see shows year-round at the Performing Arts Center.
