Things to Do in Georgetown and Arrowsic
When many visitors think of Georgetown, they think of Reid State Park. With good reason. Reid is one of Maine’s most popular seaside getaways. It sports several large beaches and a group of sand dunes rare in the state. Climb atop Griffith Head, a stony headland over the water, and you’ll get a great view of surrounding islands and lighthouses.
Also in Georgetown, you can visit the Josephine Newman Audubon Sanctuary. This 115-acre preserve includes trails that will take you by salt marsh, meadow, forest and coastline. Tour an oyster farm, shoreside or by boat, at Eros Oyster, in Robinhood Cove.
On Arrowsic, you can visit some of the unusual lighthouses set to guide ships up and down the Kennebec River. They include Squirrel Point Light Station, Doubling Point Light Station and the Kennebec River Range lights.
