Spectacular Collections at Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ Summer 2024 Auctions

A splendid summer is ahead of us – Thomaston Place Auction Galleries welcomes you to join us at our Feature Auction – Summer Splendor 2024.

THOMASTON, ME: Amazing American art and estate collections of decorative rarities will be featured in Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ summer sales on June 28, 29 & 30 and August 23, 24 & 25, 2024.

Featured artwork will include a bronze sculpture by Bessie Onahotema Potter Vonnoh (1872-1955) titled “The Dancer”; and a large watercolor painting titled “Mother and Calf, Grey Whales Diving” by Robert Wyland (1956- ).

The sales will include ceramics by master artist and Benedictine monk Brother Thomas Bezanson (1929-2007) at Weston Priory (Weston, VT), the home of largest and most important group of Bezanson’s work completed while he was part of the monastic community between 1959 and the early 1980s. The 61-piece collection represents the evolution of his artistic skill and refinement of his glazes throughout this period, and it has been lovingly cared for since he left the monastery in 1983.

The June auction will also offer a large and diverse selection of items from the Deer Isle, ME estate of singer and songwriter Dan Fogelberg (1951-2007), including outstanding examples of European marble and bronze sculpture, important etchings, and finely crafted Native American artifacts.

The auctions will begin at 11:00 a.m. EST each day. Catalogs will be available for both auctions, and an extensive schedule of in-gallery preview times for each sale will be announced shortly. All lots will also be available for viewing at Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ website, www.thomastonauction.com. These sales will offer live in-person bidding in our gallery, plus telephone, absentee, and live online bidding on three internet platforms.
