Rangeley Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce

Complete guide to 4-season Rangeley Lakes Region accommodations, restaurants, services, activities and events.

The Rangeley region is a true four-season paradise tucked away in the mountains of western Maine.

Fall brings a chill to the air and the changing foliage splatters the mountains with brilliant yellows, oranges and reds. Just about anywhere in the area affords outstanding photo opportunities.

The Rangeley Lakes Scenic Byway, a 35.6-mile National Scenic Byway, is a great way to meander through the mountains and lakes and take in the views, the wildlife and the villages along the way.

After this stunning display of color, the leaves fade and fall and the days grow shorter and colder, transitioning to the beginning of winter, when the lakes and ponds freeze and the landscape becomes blanketed in white. The Rangeley region quickly changes into an idyllic winter wonderland. Visitors can explore the area on the 150 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, ski, snowshoe, ice skate and even curl, on Haley Pond. Or, simply curl up with a good book by a roaring fire. As the days grow longer and winter starts to show signs of surrendering to spring, we anxiously await "ice out", the official kick-off of the much anticipated fishing season.

As summer begins to take hold, the hillsides and fields are ablaze with our signature wild lupine and many other wildflowers. The lakes and ponds become playgrounds for boaters and swimmers and the area villages bustle with a wide array of festivals and the arts.

Throughout all four seasons, you will marvel at the night sky, perhaps be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, watch in awe the spectacular sunsets, catch a glimpse of the abundant wildlife - the most famous of which is the moose - and simply be inspired by the natural beauty of the entire region. Once you visit the region, you'll likely return for years to come.
