Seasonal Hours
Historic parish meetinghouse tour and museum but only seasonally (May-October) as there is no heating or plumbing in the building. The Old Red Church is designated a national landmark building. Built in 1805-06 it was host to the Congregational Church which moved when the Unitarian Church gained "popularity". The Unitarian eventually began to dwindal so they agreed to create a second floor by removing the Gallery pews which housed the Standish Academy in 1848. Eventually the Academy could not sustain itself jor the congregation so by 1860 the building was turned over to use by various associations for meetings. It eventually housed the Standish High School until a new high school was built in Sebago Village. Today the Standish Historical Society operates a museum on the second floor displaying local artifacts and the school room is set up as it was in the 1900's.
Society volunteers also conduct tours of the building including the sanctuary on the first floor. The church is also available for weddings.
