Jon Mort Studio
Jon Mort is a emerging artist with a well established following
Artist Jon Mort will open the Port Clyde studio he shares with his father Greg Mort on August 2ndand 3rd, 10:AM to 5:PM for DOUBLE VISION – Open Studio at Fieldstone Castle in Port Clyde, Maine. DOUBLE VISION will be an exciting presentation because father and son challenged each other to create works of art with the same title but will not see the other’s paintings until the show is hung. Jon is using a new medium, colored-pencil that has exposed him to a whole new world of artistic expression and nuance.
“DOUBLE VISION has special meaning for me personally and has inspired me on unexpected levels”, Jon stated in a recent interview, “I am a twin and have had the benefit of traveling through life with a great friend, my twin sister Kamissa. Also, since my father’s work as an artist took us to Port Clyde every summer we grew up feeling very connected to friends, school and jobs in two close knit communities here in Maine and in Maryland, a double life of sorts. The art works I have created for DOUBLE VISION will hopefully encourage the viewer to intertwine their own history and experiences into my images.”
In 2014 Jon reached new audiences with his first solo museum exhibition titled LOCAL LEGANDS at the Sandy Spring Museum. This year his artwork was also included in juried shows at the Philips Museum and the Carla Massoni and Somerville Manning Galleries. Jon is a recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design’s Masters in Architecture program and often combines his art and architecture shills to design public space fountains and sculptures.
Greg and Jon will team up to make a presentation at 1:PM on August 2ndabout the dynamics of DOUBLE VISION. For more information see: JonMortStudio.com or 207 372 8658.
