DoryWoman Rowing offers lessons, guided tours and specialty rows in Belfast Bay and the Passagassawakeag River in a traditional-style dory boat with a licensed Maine Guide.

Looking for a unique on-the-water adventure in a beautiful coastal setting? DoryWoman Rowing is a new rowing service offering lessons, guided tours and speciality rows in Belfast Bay and the Passagassawakeag River, year-round, in a traditional-style dory boat. Your guide Nicolle Littrell is an ocean rower, coxswain and licensed Maine Guide.

Being on the water is a wonderful way to see Belfast Bay, which is part of Penobscot Bay, observe the wildlife that live here and take in the seasons. The gentle swells of summer, the fiery colors of fall, snow and ice floes in the winter. The interplay of light and sky is different every day. The rise of the full moon over the bay. Pure magic.

Lessons provide focused instruction rowing a two-oared, fixed seat traditional wooden boat. You'll be introduced to open-water rowing, with a focus on proper form and technique. All experience and skill-levels are encouraged to sign-up for a row with DWR!

On guided tours, we'll tour the Belfast watershed. This can include rowing out into the bay or up river. We'll observe the abundant wildlife that live in the Belfast Bay watershed, including different species of seabirds and birds of prey, seals and possibly porpoises and river otters! You'll learn about Belfast's working waterfront, as well as some of the history and heritage of traditional wooden boats in this region.

The dory boat Sorciere can accommodate up to three people. This is a fun and memorable year-round on-the-water experience for individuals, pairs and trios of family, friends, co-workers and student groups!

DWR will go out in a variety of conditions, including light to moderate wind, snow and light rain. Safety is a top priority; rows are weather dependent.
