Columbia Falls Pottery is a working pottery and gallery in downtown Machias, featuring functional earthenware and sculptural work made on site.
The shop offers hand-thrown and hand-built pottery decorated with hand-painted floral and seaside designs inspired by Downeast Maine. Pieces are made from white earthenware using lead-free glazes and a traditional majolica technique that allows for detailed brushwork and everyday use. Mugs, tiles and other functional wares are designed to be both practical and decorative.
Sculptural and bas-relief castings depicting traditional Downeast life are also featured, including clocks, tide clocks and commemorative plaques.
Established in 1990 and located in Machias since 2016, the shop is situated at the end of the Machias River Bridge on Route 1. Complimentary gift wrap, careful packing for travel and shipping services are available. Public parking is nearby, with easy walking access to museums, shops and Bad Little Falls Park.
