Camp Chewonki

Camp Chewonki is an environmental education organization based on a coastal campus in Wiscasset, offering immersive programs that connect people of all ages to the natural world. Founded in 1915, Chewonki is best known for its residential summer camp serving children in grades 2–8, where days are filled with outdoor play, canoeing, nature study and backcountry skills, and for its multi-week wilderness expeditions for teens in grades 9–11. The organization also operates the Maine Coast Semester, a semester-long residential program for high school juniors, and year-round environmental education programs that include field labs, ecology expeditions and saltwater canoe adventures. Together, these experiences emphasize learning by doing, stewardship and community.
