Kennebec Estuary Land Trust works to protect and restore lands and waters throughout the lower Kennebec region, ensuring these places remain healthy for wildlife and accessible for people. The organization manages a network of publicly accessible preserves with walking trails, woods, wetlands and shoreline areas across communities including Bath, Bowdoinham, Georgetown, West Bath, Westport Island and Woolwich. All KELT properties are free to use and open daily from dawn to dusk, offering opportunities for walking, nature observation and quiet outdoor recreation. Visitors are encouraged to visit the organization’s website for a current list of managed trails and preserve details. In addition to land conservation, KELT supports habitat restoration projects that improve ecosystem health and tidal flow throughout the estuary region.
