MDI Community Sailing Center

MDI Community Sailing Center is a nonprofit sailing organization based in Southwest Harbor, offering hands-on programs for kids, teens and adults on the waters of Mount Desert Island. Founded in 1996, the center introduces sailors of all experience levels to life under sail through youth programs, adult beginner and women-focused courses, private lessons and opportunities for independent boat use. Instruction takes place on a diverse fleet of more than 40 boats, allowing participants to build skills that match their age and ability. Programs emphasize practical seamanship, confidence on the water and a supportive learning environment. MDI Community Sailing Center provides an accessible way to experience the coast from the water, with certified instructors and a strong emphasis on safety, confidence and community.
