Fortunes Rocks Beach
This 2-mile expanse of sandy beach in Biddeford stretches along the open Atlantic Ocean from Biddeford Pool to Fortunes Rocks, offering visitors ample space to spread out, relax, swim and enjoy a variety of seaside activities. With steady waves and open water, the beach is especially popular for wave sports such as surfing, bodyboarding, skimboarding and surf kayaking, drawing both beginners and experienced riders. The firm, hard-packed sand also makes it an excellent spot for long walks, jogging or simply strolling while taking in ocean views and sea breezes.
Despite its wide shoreline, access is limited in order to preserve the area’s natural character. Parking is available only at the southern and northern ends of the beach via Fortunes Rocks Road, and all parking is by permit only, which can be obtained from the City Clerk’s office at Biddeford City Hall. Lifeguards are on duty from late May through early September, providing seasonal safety for swimmers. Fortunes Rocks Beach has no facilities, so visitors should plan ahead and bring everything they need for a day at the shore.
