SardineFest

Celebrate all things sardines with Penobscot Marine Museum on Saturday, October 4th! SardineFest has been generously sponsored by Hamilton Marine. The event is free, as is museum admission that day.

SardineFest will feature:

• Live music with The Oystermen, Belfast Bay Fiddlers, and the Searsport Shores Jam Band
• Children's activities sponsored by Sprague Energy
• Sardine tastings
• Storytime with Carver Memorial Library
• Sea life touch tank with Herring Gut Coastal Science Center
• "Salty Tales" where people involved in the sardine industry can share their stories
• Demonstrations
• Presentations

Maine sardines were a huge part of coastal communities from the late 1800s through the early 2000s. PMM's 2025-2026 exhibit Sardineland explores Maine's sardine industry and its impact on people and communities. SardineFest will celebrate this lost industry with a variety of activities for people of all ages.
