THE RANGELEY FAT BIKE LOPPET IS PART OF THE MAINE WINTER FAT BIKE SERIES

In its 9th year the Rangeley Fat Bike Loppet is excited to return. The weather & snow always rules the day, and our goal is to give racers a great surface upon which to race. We will avoid soft sloggy conditions to the absolute best of our ability. If the conditions permit we will mix singletrack and nordic trail into the course. As usual it will be a good time and there will be no shortage of fun. ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JAN 26, 2024 AT 5:00 PM ET Total Event Registration Limit: 60 • If we are forced to cancel the event due to any reason, WE WILL REFUND ALL ENTRY FEES. We cannot refund Bike Reg fees unfortunately. • If conditions are too soft to host the event, we will postpone to a later date. If we have the unfortunate situation where we are forced to cancel the second date we will give all riders that opportunity to: push their reservation forward to another year, donate it to our grooming fund, or request a refund. RACE CATEGORIES 10:15 AM Men’s & Women’s Long Course: 16-20 miles (2 laps) 10:20 AM Men’s & Women’s Short Course: 8-10 miles (1 lap) Prizes awarded for the top three men and women include locally sourced swag and more.

RANGELEY FAT BIKE LOPPET COURSE DESCRIPTION The Rangeley Fat Bike Loppet course takes advantage of the beautiful varied terrain we have available here at the Trails Center, from wide straight-a-ways to gradual ascent and descents, to some aggressive hill climb/descent opportunities. Views and possible wildlife sightings are included! We have held a cross country ski marathon at this venue for the past 10+ years, drawing competitors from the east coast and beyond. We groom with a PistenBully nordic groomer with a power tiller and will shoot for a nice firm corduroy. The single track is snowmobile groomed. Course length may be adjusted based on snow conditions should we have some weather before the race. Our stadium (bigger than a football field) provides an excellent venue for mass starts and great visibility for an exciting finish. There is a sidehill overlooking the stadium that also provides a perfect vantage point for spectators. There are several places along the course that are in the vicinity of our yurt lodge that also provide good places for cheering/spectating.
