8/28/21

Join us for an evening of music and imagery featuring the renowned Halcyon String Quartet with special guest Chris Newell.

Join Schoodic Institute for an evening of music and imagery featuring the renowned Halcyon String Quartet with special guest Chris Newell. As performers, artists and collaborators, Halcyon strives to share their love of music in ways that foster connection, community, vibrancy, joy, warmth and accessibility. Their performances are interdisciplinary and often involve a multimedia component. In each concert, they work to create a space that draws upon word, art and music to tell a story that is relevant to our community.

During this special performance, Wabanaki musician Chris Newell will join the Quartet as we explore ways of embracing a diversity of perspectives, understanding, and science. Chris is a long time member of the Mystic River singers, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning inter-tribal pow wow drum group based out of Connecticut. For over two decades, Chris devoted much of his time to Mystic River travelling all over the US and Canada singing at community pow wows and spending time in those communities learning various Native musics and taking part in community and family events.

Join us for this special event at 5:30 PM for refreshments and light appetizers. The performance will start at 6:00 PM in Moore Auditorium located at Schoodic Institute. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and there is no cost for children under 16.
