Join Ian Saxine and Tiffany Link, co-hosts of the public history podcast, Mainely History, for a live taping of an episode focused on the history of the Old Gaol. They are joined by Old York's own Joel Lefever, Executive Director, and Erin Tewksbury, Education Coordinator, for a discussion of the jail, focusing on how it operated for both employees and detainees in the 17th and 18th centuries. They also explore the Old Gaol's transformation into a local history point of interest and tourist attraction in the late 19th/early 20th century, and its connection to the Colonial Revival and growth of historical tourism.

Ian Saxine is Assistant Professor of History at Bridgewater State University, specializing in Colonial and Native American history. His first book, Properties of Empire: Indians, Colonists, and Land Speculators on the New England Frontier examines how Wabanakis and newcomers thought about property in Maine.

Tiffany Link is Collections Curator at the Maine Historical Society. She is Co-Curator of the new exhibition Notorious: Maine Crime in the Public Eye, 1690-1940 exploring the long history of "true crime" fascination and press sensationalism in the Pine Tree State.
