A Well-Being Concert

8/16/24

Presented by Bay Chamber Concerts Friday, August 16 | 1:00 PM | Hammer Hall, 5 Mountain St. Camden, ME

Performers JOSHUA ROMAN, cello

SARAH ELIZABETH CHARLES, host

Find musical mindfulness and self-care in a Well-Being Concert with inspiring cellist Joshua Roman. Celebrated for his “playful zest for exploration” (The New York Times) and “contagious enthusiasm for musical evolution” (The Seattle Times), Joshua is a TED Senior Fellow (and hit performer at the TED Conference) who became the Seattle Symphony’s youngest principal player at age 22. A prolific and eclectic solo career has now taken him around the world and included collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, DJ Spooky, Somi, Anna Deveare Smith, and numerous top orchestras. The concert is hosted by Sarah Elizabeth Charles, a self-care advocate, vocalist, and composer based in New York City.

Audience members are encouraged to bring yoga mats, cushions etc. (we’ll have a few extras) – you are welcome to choose if you’d like to lie down, sit on the floor, take your shoes off, to fully immerse yourself in the music. Chairs will be provided as needed. Music performed in this well-being experience includes Caroline Shaw’s in manus tuas, Allison Loggins-Hull’s Stolen, Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel, Joshua’s own Immunity for solo cello, and Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

Please do join us for this restorative and healing musical experience.
