Windjammer Schooner Lewis R. French offers a multi-night sailing experience along Maine’s coast aboard a National Historic Landmark and the country’s oldest commercial windjammer. Carrying just 20 guests, the owner-captained schooner sails without an inboard engine, inviting travelers to unplug and experience life under sail. Days are spent helping hoist sails if desired, relaxing on deck, rowing or sailing wooden skiffs, and anchoring off islands for exploration and an included lobster bake. Below deck, cozy single and double cabins provide simple comforts, while meals and desserts are prepared fresh in the galley. Sailing participation is encouraged but never required.
