The Apprenticeshop

The Apprenticeshop is a nonprofit educational organization in Rockland focused on traditional wooden boatbuilding, sailing and seamanship. The school emphasizes hands-on learning rooted in Maine’s maritime traditions.

Boatbuilding programs range from short intensive courses to longer-term apprenticeships, guiding participants through the construction of traditional wooden boats using established techniques and tools. Instruction takes place in an active workshop setting that supports skill development and collaboration.

The Apprenticeshop also offers sailing instruction and seamanship education, along with workshops related to maritime craft. A boat livery of traditional sail and row boats supports on-the-water learning and use.
