Watercolor Class with Kristin Fuhrmann-Simmons

Event Dates

April 25, 2026

As we celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary, join instructor Kristin Fuhrmann-Simmons to learn how to paint your own watercolor sampler, inspired by 18th-century embroidery.

In this relaxed workshop, you'll create a beautiful 2-to 4-paneled sampler inspired by textiles in Old York's collection. Step-by-step instructions will guide beginner and seasoned painters in this special-edition class.

Whether you're new to watercolor or already love to paint, this class offers something for everyone. We'll explore:

  • Foundational watercolor techniques (blending, layering, and linework)
  • How to paint natural hex and wreath shapes, symmetrical patterns, stars, florals, fruits, and sprigs of leaves.
  • Techniques for working with gold paint.
  • Easy composition tips to design your finished watercolor sampler

All materials are provided. Students will leave with their completed 8×8 watercolor samplers, ready to frame or gift.
