Our Midday Music Series offers up music by top chamber artists while the day is still young. From string quartets to solo pianists to creatively-inspired duos, the MIdday Music Series is incredibly popular, a beautifully scored break from the hubbub of life. Here are the concerts we have scheduled. More to come
Songs from Here, Friday October 3, 2025 at 1 pm -- Now in their fourth concert season, duo Songs From Here, Sarah Tuttle, soprano Bridget Convey, piano, presents a program that celebrates the crafts and trades of Maine. This Midday Music Series concert includes new arrangements of sea songs by beloved Maine folk musician Gordon Bok, new takes on traditional Acadian folk melodies, and original songs by resident composer Erica Ball that reflect on motherhood and the oft-invisible work of the home. A piece by Scott Barber pays tribute to one of Maine's most famous exports: blueberries! Songs from Here is dedicated to developing art song written in Maine.
Strings Attached, Friday, January 23 at 1 pm -- In this inventive program, cellist Nora Willauer and pianist Marlene McCarthy explore the sparks of creativity born from close artistic relationships in the 20th century. From the youthful brilliance of Benjamin Britten's First Cello Suite to the many colors of Maurice Ravel's Miroirs, and Sonata for Cello and Piano by Dutch composer Henriëtte Bosmans, the duo invites listeners into the space where music and human connection intertwine. Through storytelling between pieces, Nora and Marlene lay out how these masterpieces emerged from artistic friendships, love, and collaboration. A rich hour of music and discovery awaits.
