Swans Falls Campground
The Swan Falls Campground is in Fryeburg, close to the White Mountain National Forest. You can go hiking here and access the Saco River to go canoeing and kayaking. You can camp beside the river at one of 18 campsites, each of which has a fire pit and picnic table. While campers and RVs are welcome, the campground has no hook-ups. All campers have access to water spigots and outhouses.
The campground is designated as an outdoor education facility. At the visitor’s center, you and your family can learn about invasive plants, the Saco River, Leave No Trace, and the organizations involved in protecting the river. The campground also has a store where you can purchase such items as bug spray, sunscreen, rain ponchos, life vests and sunglasses. You’ll need to pay a fee to camp. The campground is open from May 26 to Oct. 9. It books early and reservations are accepted beginning in January.
