Kennebunkport Lobster

Maines Beaches Region

Summer through early fall

  • Book a coastal lobster boat tour aboard Kylie’s Chance or the classic Rugosa. You’ll experience first-hand how Maine’s iconic lobster are trapped and hauled.

  • Savor a sweet lobster roll at the Clam Shack, where they have been serving up the freshest seafood since 1968. Be sure to order a side of fried clams! You can even order a The Maine Lobster Roll Kit, to send home. All dishes are take-away or you can eat al fresco on a wooden lobster crate.

  • Spend the afternoon at Goose Rocks Beach. A barrier reef offshore known as the Goose Rocks, visible at low tide, helps protect the soft white sands of this three-mile beach.

  • Set up camp at Sandy Pines Camping or book one of their new glamp tents for an elevated camping experience. You can even order a lobster dinner at their on site snack bar!

  • Crack open a fresh caught Maine lobster at Mabel’s Lobster Claw Restaurant. This classic spot is located on Ocean Avenue, right across the street from the pier where lobsters are hauled in by local lobstermen. Mabel’s is a favorite of former President George H.W. Bush and he really likes the homemade pies too!

  • Local Tips:

Take a stroll along Ocean Ave. to Walker’s Point, the longtime summer home of George and Barbara Bush. There’s a scenic overlook where you can catch a glimpse of the estate, smell the salt air and hear the waves crashing.

Visit the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, a short drive away along Port Road. Carson was a world-renowned marine biologist, author and environmentalist.

“Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life.” From Sense of Wonder.

  • Find a selection of plants that run wide and deep at Snug Harbor Farm. Mainers travel from afar for thoughtfully sourced home and garden goods.
