Dog Sledding in Maine

If you've ever imagined mushing a dog sled through the deep snow on a fast run, you can test your skills by working with a Maine guide. You can find Maine dog-sledding trips of all types and lengths, especially in the western and northern woods. You can ease into the sport with a half-day guided trip and enjoy lunch cooked over an open campfire. Or, try an overnight trip to a tent camp deep in the woods, complete with wood stove, meals and camping gear. A number of Maine outfitters provide dog-sledding packages that include daily dog-sledding treks, lodging, meals, winter clothing and equipment, as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing equipment and treks.

Skijoring

The sport of "skijoring" is a Nordic cousin of dogsledding. A harness, an eager dog, and a pair of cross country skis are all you need for this sport. New England Dogsledding can introduce you to the sport.
