Boats, Homes & Harbors Show
They say a rising tide lifts all boats. True. But only if they’re in the water. That’s the beauty of the annual Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show in Rockland. It’s Maine’s only in-water boat show, where high tides, high summer and high spirits come together in and around Rockland Harbor. If you’re into boats you’ll be all the way into this gathering of Maine’s top boatbuilders and a flotilla of shining examples of the craft, from new to vintage. And it only gets better, as Maine’s finest artists, architects, craftsmen, designers, furniture makers, jewelers, and marine gear vendors ply their trades and show their stuff. There’s live music, great food and plenty of fun and games for kids. Make sure to include these events in your captain’s log:
- World Championship Boatyard Dog Trials. Watch pre-selected canines compete tooth and nail in events like the “Dockside Obstacle Course” and the “Dinghy Hop.”
- Small Boat Love-In. There’s big fun – and a little romance – on the water, with classic small craft from Corson to Whalers.
- Concours d'Epiphanes. If it sounds classy and beautiful it is, as lovingly restored vintage boats are showcased throughout the grounds for your viewing pleasure.
- Icon Boats. You’ll want to be front and center, and fore and aft, as a different big time vessel visits the show docks each day, including the 74-foot schooner “Koukla,” and the “Capt. Susan J. Clark.”
