Pie-Eating Contests, Veggie Parades

You and your family can taste local and organic foods, watch agricultural events, and participate in fun and educational kids' activities at Maine fairs, including:

  • the children's tent at the Maine Lobster Festival, which features such activities as the Cod Fish Carry and a Lobster Eating Contest for kids;
  • and the Common Ground Fair in Unity, where kids can don veggie costumes to participate in the Vegetable Garden Parade (costumes and noisemakers are available at the fair). The fair’s Maine Apple Tent teaches kids about the benefits of Maine apples through activities and games, including an apple pie-eating contest.

You can find out more about festivals and fairs that feature food at Maine’s Farmer’s Markets, Fairs and Festivals.
