From weekly rides organized by local cycling clubs, to rallies, races and benefit rides that attract thousands, you can find a cycling event to match your interests and abilities throughout the spring, summer and fall in Maine.
Here are just a few of many events to watch for:
- Father’s Day weekend marks the date of the three-day, 180-mile Trek Across Maine, from Newry to Belfast, organized to benefit the American Lung Association. A new 2-day option is available June 17 & 18 with lower miles and fundraising.
- The Bicycle Coalition of Maine organizes many rides and events throughout the season, including the Annual Women’s Ride in June, the Maine Lobster Ride and Roll in July, and the Bike Maine event in early September.
- The Yarmouth Clam Festival Men’s and Women’s Professional Bike Race is a Sunday morning event at the three-day festival held on the third weekend of July in Yarmouth.
- Hundreds escape to Maine for the Bike MS: Great Maine Getaway in August. During 2015, riders in the two-day event will experience all the beauty of Maine’s southern coastline, beginning in Biddeford. Seasoned cyclists and novices alike will enjoy their choice of routes, from 25 to 100 miles.
