Maine International Film Festival

Region: Kennebec Valley
Activity: Film festival, film, arts and culture

The Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) is offering a mix of attendance options this year: venues include Waterville, Skowhegan and your living room sofa! This showcase of American independent, international and classic films is the perfect way to celebrate theaters being able to safely re-open following a challenging year. There will be a wide array of work featured, including premieres, made-in-Maine features, classic revivals, and short films from around the world.

Whether you’re up for a safe in-theater experience again, want to stick to the outdoors or would rather cozy up on your couch, add a little art and culture to your summer through one of these options:

Inside, Socially Distanced

You can safely attend the event at Railroad Square Cinema in Waterville and the Waterville Opera House. Capacity will be limited to allow for socially distanced seating, and extra time will be given for cleanings and air circulation between screenings.

Celebrate the theater experience once again at these venerable locations:

  • Railroad Square Cinema: This three-screen independent cinema is acclaimed for both its films and its delightful popcorn.
  • Waterville Opera House: This historic theater has been beautifully restored into a grand, magical venue.

Outdoor Seating

Take the theater experience al-fresco at the retro Skowhegan Drive-In Theater. There’s much to witness through your windshield — just don’t forget the popcorn.

Virtual Options

These award-winning films aren’t just reserved for the theatergoers. Anyone can enjoy MIFF — even at home, in the comfort of your best pajamas.

Individual tickets will be available when the festival lineup is announced in mid-June. Alternatively, you can choose to pre-order passes: either a full festival pass, which admits visitors to all in-person, drive-in and virtual events, or a partial pass that includes 10 admissions to in-person, drive-in and virtual events.

To see more details, purchase tickets or order a full festival pass, visit the MIFF Tickets and Passes page.
