A circa-1818 Federal-style mansion built for Judge Thomas Ruggles, a wealthy lumber dealer, postmaster, militia captain and Justice of Court Sessions for Washington County, Maine. It is furnished with period antiques and features a "flying" staircase, one of the few in the country. Intricate carvings decorate the drawing room.
