Historic Coast Guard photo of Ram Island Ledge Light.
This cylindrical, granite light, established in 1905, marks a jagged rock pile that caused many shipwrecks before the tower was erected. The light is not open to the public. But it can be seen from Fort Williams Park, off Shore Road in Cape Elizabeth, which also hosts Portland Head Light.
