Puffins, Lighthouses and Seabirds

Welcome aboard the M/V Eden Star for your 3 & 1/2 hour Puffins, Lighthouses and Seabirds trip, leaving daily from mid-May through mid-August (when the puffins migrate from our area). See the highlights of our beautiful coast including Mark Island, Petit Manan and Egg Rock Lighthouses. Hear the stories of the brave men and women who settled and cared for this rocky coastline, and be entertained as our professional naturalist points out seabirds and mammals only seen offshore. And, keep your eyes open for the occasional Minke Whales!

Some of the birds often seen on this tour include: puffins, razorbills, murres, guillemots, shearwaters, terns, gulls, jaegers, variousraptors, ducks, geese and waders. Don't worry if you're not a professional birder; our crew can assist birdwatchers of all skill levels. Bird sightings do change with the changing seasons, so check ahead for an up-to-date list of recent sightings.

This trip includes an extended viewing of Petit Manan Lighthouse, which is one of only seven islands in Maine where endangered Atlantic Puffins nest. Also experience the majestic scenery of Schoodic Penisula as well as part of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge. The Eden Star is a 65' passenger vessel with indoor and outdoor seating, light galley service, clean restrooms and experienced captain and crew.

Disclaimer: This an ocean trip. We are likely to encounter some waves. Rarely is it very warm at sea. If you are prone to seasickness this may not be the best trip for you, or at least be advised to take necessary precautions to prevent feeling ill. In the past we have had passengers tell us they weren't warned in advance.
